At Diane Mess, LAC, we offer advanced Electro Acupuncture Medicine services, combining the traditional wisdom of acupuncture with modern technology. Our skilled practitioners utilize precise electrical stimulation to enhance the effectiveness of acupuncture, providing targeted relief from various ailments and promoting overall well-being.
Cupping therapy, originating in ancient China, involves placing glass or plastic cups on the skin and creating a vacuum to raise the underlying tissue. The purpose is to enhance circulation, relieve pain, remove toxins, and balance energy.
Depending on the condition, cups are left in place for five to 10 minutes and may be moved along acupoints or meridians with the use of medicated oils. Cupping is effective for various issues, including flu, muscle pain, anxiety, allergies, and skin conditions, and may result in temporary painless bruises that fade in a few days.
Come to your appointment wearing loose, comfortable clothing. After an in-depth assessment of your condition, you will lie comfortably on a massage table, and very fine, single-use sterile needles will be inserted through the skin at specific points on the body to stimulate your Qi.
Acupuncture needles are very thin, so insertion usually causes little discomfort. Between five and 20 needles are used in a typical treatment. Sometimes the points are far removed from the area of your pain.
Needle sensations vary from person to person, with some reporting a tiny pinch while others feel virtually nothing at all. As the Qi is reached, a mild tingling sensation may be felt—a flow of warmth, a feeling of gentle pressure, or nothing.
Some people feel relaxed, and others feel energized after an acupuncture treatment. Everyone is different. Repeat treatments may or may not be necessary, depending on the severity of the condition. Some conditions need only 1 or 2 sessions, while other long-term conditions may need additional treatments.
By stimulating specific pressure points, acupuncture promotes overall health and vitality without the adverse effects that some medications and procedures bring. Whether you are seeking relief from chronic pain, anxiety, or general wellness, acupuncture offers a gentle, holistic approach to healing your body and mind.
